Spatial recognition without app: How Spatial AR is transforming industry, culture and retail

Unlock the potential of your spaces with Augmented Reality without apps

At ARGO, we are excited to present a spatial augmented reality technology that is now accessible and finally out of its beta phase! This solution based on a Visual Positioning System (VPS) offers an instant experience (without app downloads) with complete accuracy, both on Android devices (AR Core) and on iOS (AR Kit).

A technology that understands space

Spatial AR is a VPS that allows you to scan indoor and outdoor spaces with a smartphone, accurately place augmented reality (AR) content within these spaces, and keep it anchored throughout the user experience.

Watch the video below to see how it works!

Unmatched recognition capabilities

This spatial tracking technology recognizes the real environment with much more detail than experiences based on other tracking types.

For example, surface tracking (World Tracking/SLAM) allows you to place an AR scene in any environment, whether it’s your living room or a factory corridor. However, it lacks intelligence in analyzing these surfaces: the experience is the same from one place to another.

On the other hand, marker-based tracking (Image Tracking) does recognize a given environment well, but since it starts from a flat photograph (2D), it does not understand depth.

That is why Spatial AR becomes the most comprehensive technology when you want to add AR information in a specific environment. It allows for a very detailed 3D scan of a static object or a complete location, then overlay virtual content (3D models, audio, video, etc.) on it.

This content can be enriched by Artificial Intelligence (AI). For example, so that an operator can see real-time data coming from a machine. Or for training on occupational risk prevention conducted in a certain room to be updated based on the employee's progress.

Industrial applications

At ARGO, we have been implementing this spatial augmented reality technology since 2020 for companies in the industrial sector looking for precise tracking for their immersive experiences.

These companies use AR to enhance the training and productivity of their staff by anchoring instructions, steps to follow, or sensor information (IoT) in real time. We work with companies like KPMG, Red Eléctrica or Unilever.

Previously, an app was required to enjoy this type of experience. That is no longer the case today, thanks to technological advances now accessible.

Enriching the cultural experience

The elimination of the app download barrier has led to increased demand and better adaptation to other sectors where the goal is to reach a wider audience to amplify the impact generated by such experiences.

This is the case with the Wax Museum of Madrid, which adopted this technology while it was still in beta. You can watch their promotional video for the "Dale cera" campaign to get an idea of the project.

Revolutionizing tourism

What if you could offer tourists an immersive experience throughout your city or your monument without them having to download anything?

Whether it’s enriched audio guides in AR or treasure hunts throughout the city, the Spatial AR technology allows for immersive experiences with no technical barriers.

Transforming the shopping experience

The user experience at the point of sale can also be enhanced through spatial augmented reality. Whether it's gamifying the shopping experience or providing personalized recommendations, this app-free technology can transform the way consumers interact with products.

Integration with AI even allows for product recognition and the provision of personalized information without needing QR codes or other visual markers.

Next-generation marketing and advertising

Create true OOH (Out Of Home) experiences with augmented reality, transforming any space into an opportunity to connect with your brand. Without download barriers, user engagement increases significantly.

Training and human resources

Training has never been so realistic and effective. With spatial augmented reality, simulations become more immersive, improving learning retention. Particularly useful for occupational risk prevention.

Significant benefits

This spatial technology stands out for its ability to offer an instant AR experience without app downloads, with great precision on all devices. It democratizes access to augmented reality for both creators and consumers.

The Web AR technology allows users to experience immersive experiences directly from their browser. For iOS, solutions like Clip significantly enhance tracking to provide a smooth and precise experience.

Clear visual guidance for localization areas also facilitates interaction with the AR experience.

A simplified implementation

The process is simple and accessible:

  1. Scan a space with a dedicated app

  2. Setup the scene in our creation studio

  3. Share the AR experience on mobile or headset, without app downloads

This simplified approach allows anyone to create and consume spatial AR experiences without technical barriers.
